Why Become a Certified Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt

Why become a Certified Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt

In the Lean Six Sigma belt certification system, there are four levels of certification corresponding to four colors of belts. A White Belt corresponds to the most basic level of training, a Yellow Belt is a bit more advanced, a Green Belt is even more proficient, and a Black Belt is the highest achievement.

When choosing a Lean Six Sigma training course, it is important to realize that it is not necessary to start with the White Belt level. You can start at the Black Belt level if that’s where you want to eventually be!

So which level of certification is right for you? Becoming a certified Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt may be the right choice for you if:

1. You want to work as a change agent but not full-time. Yellow Belt certification will allow you to be well-versed in the basics of the Lean Six Sigma Methodology and enable you to support improvement projects on a part-time basis.

2. You want to lead projects with the occasional need of assistance from Lean Six Sigma Green Belts, Lean Six Sigma Black Belts or Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belts. Your Yellow Belt training will allow you to work as a member of a team or conduct independent small projects.

3. You want to understand key aspects of certain phases of the Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control (DMAIC) cycle. Yellow Belt certification will teach you about the DMAIC cycle with an emphasis on the Define-Measure-Control phases. The highly technical content covered in the Analyze and Improve phases is not covered in Yellow Belt training courses.

4. You want to increase your employability with Lean Six Sigma Certification. Employers value Lean Six Sigma training! Learning how to create more value with fewer resources while emphasizing quality will benefit your employers, your customers, and your industry as a whole.
